WHAT IS ZERO WASTE?

“Zero Waste: The conservation of all resources by means of responsible
production, consumption, reuse, and recovery of products, packaging, and
materials without burning and with no discharges to land, water, or air that
threaten the environment or human health.”

REFUSE

Refuse to be part of wasteful consumerism by purchasing items with no or little single-use packaging.

REDESIGN

Do you imagine a future in which food, beverage, home, and personal care products reach consumers without any disposable packaging at all? We do! In fact, it’s already here, and redesign is part of making it happen.

REDUCE

Plastic is filling Vietnam’s landfills and waterways. We need to reduce production and consumption of single-use plastic.

REUSE

We support Vietnamese businesses that are leading the transition from the disposable to the reuse and refill economy.

RECYCLE

Waste going to landfill can be reduced additionally by recycling.

RESIDUAL MANAGEMENT

Residual waste should be reduced to the absolute minimum, and then managed in a way that keeps it out of the environment. We oppose incineration and other practices that pollute the air and contribute to climate change.

ROT

We don’t need to burn waste, over 70% of our waste can be composted (i.e., rot) into rich soil for gardens and agriculture. Join us in learning how to compost and advocating for municipal composting programs.
