Dong Ngac Elementary School in Bac Tu Liem District has become a model in promoting environmentally responsible living and protecting the Earth. Here, students are not only educated about knowledge, but also engage in practical activities.
The school has put in place a number of initiatives to support students in adopting a zero waste lifestyle and comprehending and applying appropriate waste management skills. In addition to gathering milk box, students receive instruction on proper garbage sorting and disposal techniques in designated bins. This has practical applications in everyday life in addition to being a teaching issue.The “Single-Use Plastic Reduction and Reuse Promotion at school” project has been implemented since October 2022 at the school, with strong support from the Vietnam Zero Waste Alliance. As of the current date, most students at the school have developed an awareness of waste separation and have reduced their use of plastic bags. In particular, students now use paper covers for their books instead of plastic ones as they did before. Additionally, VZWA has provided the school with a great deal of support by swapping out a variety of plastic items for stainless steel trays, cups, and bowls. The school has made some headway in its efforts to lessen the quantity of plastic garbage that is discharged into the environment. The parents of the students have enthusiastically supported the project, showcasing a shared commitment to creating a greener environment and safeguarding our planet.Dong Ngac Elementary School has made a significant statement about the value of living sustainably by taking these modest actions. The school also instills in the students the idea that community as a whole bears responsibility for preserving the environment, rather than just one person or organization. To create a more beautiful and environmentally friendly future for future generations, we must work together.
