On December 23, 2024, the Phu Yen Department of Education and Training, in collaboration with GreenHub, held a conference to review the implementation of the “Zero Waste School” model and launch the “Green – Clean – Beautiful – Safe Schools and Classrooms” campaign. This conference served as an important occasion to evaluate achievements and share lessons learned in promoting waste classification and reduction, particularly of single-use plastic waste, in schools across the province.
The event was attended by leaders from the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, representatives from GreenHub, district and city-level education offices, and representatives from various schools in Phu Yen province. Participants reviewed the progress, advantages, and challenges faced during the implementation of the “Zero Waste School” model and discussed effective solutions to further expand its impact in the coming years.
During the conference, the importance of raising awareness about environmental protection, especially the reduction of plastic waste in schools, was highlighted. The conference officially launched the Regulation on reducing single-use plastic waste in educational institutions, encouraging schools to adopt innovative and sustainable practices for waste management.
Notably, the conference recognized and commended 18 educational institutions for their outstanding achievements in implementing the “Zero Waste School” model and the “Green – Clean – Beautiful – Safe Schools and Classrooms” campaign for the 2023-2025 period. These schools not only excelled in waste classification and reduction but also successfully fostered a culture of environmental responsibility among students, teachers, and parents, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious community.
The conference was not merely a summary of achievements but also marked the beginning of a new phase aimed at scaling up the “Zero Waste School” model across the province. It provided a platform for schools to exchange experiences and ignite creativity in environmental protection activities, striving to nurture a generation that values sustainability, lives green, and takes action for a better future.
The event concluded with a powerful message: “Every small action today can create significant change for tomorrow.” Phu Yen remains committed to partnering with the education sector in building green, clean, beautiful, and friendly learning environments for its students.
