Initiated by the Vietnam Zero Waste Alliance (VZWA), the first Zero School was organized by the Vietnam Zero Waste Alliance (VZWA) and took place in Hanoi in 2021. Schools and network partners have given the event favorable reviews. The second Zero Waste School Festival will take place in Ho Chi Minh City following that achievement. University of Economic in Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), Zero Waste School Network and More (Zhub & more) and Humane Environment Society (Refill) Co., Ltd., The 2nd Zero School School Festival will collaborate to hold the event at UEH on December 9, 2022.
The 2nd Zero Waste School Festival in 2022 is part of the Ready for Next series of events organized by the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) hosted several outstanding events. With the topic “Zero Waste School”, VZWA participates in the Inspiring Sustainability exhibition as an active partner. Here, VZWA, Zhub, and Refill will present concepts, successes, and solutions pertaining to educational institutions that follow a zero-waste lifestyle. The event is anticipated to take place over the course of three days, from December 7 to December 9, 2022, at hall B1 on campus B at 279 Nguyen Tri Phuong in District 10 of Ho Chi Minh City.
Zero Waste School
Zero Waste School is an initiative of the Vietnam Zero Waste Alliance with the goal of applying a zero-waste solution in school waste management, prioritizing the Refuse – Reduce – Reuse of single-use plastic products, the product is not needed or cannot be composted.
Relying on the idea that “recycling is not enough,” VZWA considers “zero waste practices” to be a sustainable solution that lays the groundwork for the creation of a circular economy model.
The youthful generations, who will be primarily responsible for the advancement of humanity in the future, are thought to be incubated in schools. As a result, it may be claimed that schools are crucial for imparting knowledge, altering attitudes, and encouraging young people to practice living more sustainably.
The Zero Waste School Festival is expected to be an annual event that brings together schools with the same concern about environmental sustainability. This activity encourages innovative solutions in waste management towards sustainability.
VZWA Annual Meeting 2022
The VZWA Annual Meeting was held concurrently with the Zero Waste School Festival by VZWA. One day’s worth of information is intended to allow participants to hear about the members’ great year-end accomplishments and discuss problems and concerns to come up with quick fixes and prompt help.
