Da Nang, August 16th, 2024, within the framework of “MRF application in order to reduce plastic pollution in Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city”, sponsored by Pacific Environment Vietnam (PEVN), Center for Construction and Promotion of Sustainable Development ( BUS) organized ” Vietnam Zero Waste Forum – 2024″ attracting the participation of more than 50 delegates from ministries, local governments, social organizations, universities and non-governmental organizations. to discuss and share experiences on waste reduction solutions in Vietnam and around the world.

During the event, delegates participated in 2 discussion sessions and learned about the lessons and experiences on zero-waste practice in residential areas and schools, including: model MRF in Cu Lao Cham and the Philippines; waste classification and recycling in Bac Tu Liem district (Hanoi city); The role of social enterprises in waste reduction solutions towards a circular economy; green practice at Da Nang University of Education; circular economy in closed systems; and the Zero Waste Schools project.

Moreover, participants had two general discussion sessions with content revolving around promoting the effective operation of MRF Stations and building the Vietnam Zero Waste Alliance. These are urgent and important topics in the current context, when the issue of waste and environmental pollution is becoming a major challenge for many localities.
The opinions and recommendations given during the teamwork sessions at the Forum are not only highly practical but also demonstrate the sense of responsibility and determination of the delegates in joining hands to solve the waste problem. These contributions are expected to make an important contribution to the project and the Vietnam Zero Waste Alliance in implementing activities consistent with local practices, while building a sustainable development model, aiming to a greener and cleaner future for everyone.

In addition to the presentations, the Vietnam Zero Waste Forum 2024 also displayed the exhibition of winners’ paintings of two competitions: Child Artist for a Waste-Free Vietnam 2023 and Child Artist for a Zero-Trash July 2024. Those paintings with meaningful messages from children not only demonstrate artistic talent, but also convey messages about environmental protection and waste reduction through their innocent and creative perspectives. The exhibition not only creates a colorful art space, but also contributes to raising community awareness of responsibility for the living environment.
