CHAM ISLAND MARINE PROTECTED AREA’S CAMPAIGNS
Zero Waste model in Cham Island
Building upon achieving Vietnam’s first plastic bag ban in 2010, the Cham Islands MPA Authority is working with communities located within the protected area to ban more single-use plastic items from coming to the islands, separate and reduce waste, and model composting. Almost 100 households in Bai Huong are currently separating their waste, and earthworm tower composters are being used by villagers and monks at Ngoc Huong pagoda.
