Pacific Environment Vietnam Supports “Lights Off, Ideas On” Festival 2025 – 16 Years of Inspiring a Greener Future

On March 21-22, 2025, the 16th annual “Lights Off, Ideas On” Festival lit up The Loop Shopping Center in Hanoi, drawing over 3,000 attendees and widespread community engagement. Launched in 2010 by BOOVironment, this pioneering initiative has evolved into a nationwide movement, inspiring Vietnamese youth to take meaningful action for the environment. Over the years, it has not only raised awareness but also driven real change—encouraging sustainable habits, promoting innovative solutions, and fostering environmental leadership.

Pacific Environment Vietnam was honored to support this impactful event. Ms. Trần Thị Kim Tuyến, Communications Manager, joined the esteemed panel of judges to select this year’s Green Champions—young changemakers committed to leading environmental initiatives in their communities.

This year’s theme, “Waste is a Resource”, and the message “Switch Off Fast Living – Switch On Green Living”, underscored the urgent need for sustainable waste management and responsible consumption. The festival provided a platform for businesses and environmental organizations to collaborate on innovative sustainability solutions while equipping young leaders with the tools and knowledge to drive long-term impact.

One of the most powerful moments of the festival was the Earth Hour Countdown. At exactly 8:30 PM, all lights in the event area were switched off, marking Vietnam’s participation in the global Earth Hour movement. The darkness gave way to an awe-inspiring performance of “Village Lights” and “Drifting Water Ferns”, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of unity and reflection. The evening continued with a stirring rendition of “Our Vietnam” by HUST, reinforcing a collective vision of a greener, more sustainable future.

The event concluded with a tribute to organizers, sponsors, and partners, celebrating their contributions to environmental action. The highlight was the announcement of the Top 15 Green Champions, who will now embark on a mentorship and incubation program to develop real-world sustainability projects, supported by corporate sponsors and environmental experts.

As a dedicated advocate for a Zero Waste future, Pacific Environment Vietnam is proud to be part of this journey—empowering young leaders, fostering innovation, and working towards a world where sustainable living is the norm.
